Prof
Pregala (Solosh) Pillay has been appointed as Vice-Dean: Social Impact and
Transformation in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences from 1
October 2016.
Prof
Pillay is a Professor in the School of Public Leadership and Director of the
Anti-Corruption Centre for Education and Research of Stellenbosch University (ACCERUS).
Prof
Stan du Plessis, Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, said
the portfolio of Social Impact and Transformation is of such major importance
that a vice-dean position had been created. He congratulated prof Pillay and
said, “We look forward to her contribution in this portfolio and in the
Faculty’s leadership more generally.”
A former
Director of the School of Public Administration and Development Management at
the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Prof Pillay has more than 20 years’ experience
in teaching a diverse range of Public Administration modules at undergraduate
and postgraduate levels. She has also supervised and mentored a large
number of Masters and Doctoral students.
As
a researcher, she has published widely both nationally and internationally on
contemporary issues in Public Administration, local government, service
delivery, leadership and corruption, and has presented papers at national,
regional and international conferences.
Prof
Pillay is a Board Member of the Journal of Governance and Public Policy and
Co-Chair of Working Group on Women, Diversity and Equity of the International
Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration. She is an Adjunct
Professor in the Department of Public Administration at the University of
Zululand.
