Scholarship for PhD in Old Testament

​​The Faculty of Theology at Stellenbosch University is offering a three-year scholarship for prospective doctoral students who wish to specialise in Old Testament.  

The continuation of the scholarship of R15 000 per year is subject to satisfactory progress being made in the first year. Preference will be given to applicants who are interested in themes concerning Gender and the Old Testament or want to undertake an exegetical study in one of the Old Testament prophets.

The official application to undertake doctoral studies at the SU must be completed online at For admission to the PhD program in Old Testament applicants should preferably have completed Hebrew II or higher, or an equivalent qualification, and have a relevant master's degree. 

In order to be considered for the scholarship, a full CV and a one page outline of the focus of the proposed study must be submitted to Prof Juliana Claassens at by 30 November 2013.
