Synopsis of the talk.

Low back pain is the number one cause of disability worldwide, affecting an estimated 540 million people at any one time and straining healthcare and social systems that are already overburdened.  It is the leading cause of disability in many countries. This global burden of disability has more than doubled since 1990 and is set to rise further in the coming decades, especially in low-and middle-income countries, as the world population ages and increases. This talk will shed light on myths and of the management of back pain as many people with back pain are getting the wrong care, causing harm to millions of people across the world and wasting valuable healthcare resources. A better understanding of low back pain and changes to the way care for back pain is delivered and reimbursed, are crucial to reversing this problem.
