More than fifty students from the Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology Student Society (BMBSS) of the University of Limpopo visited CAF on 18 September. The purpose of the visit was to expose students to the laboratory work environment and inspire and encourage them to be involved in positive thinking of becoming a society that responds to community improvement. Paul Senyatsi, Chairperson of the BMBSS, said students needed to see the importance of their fields of study in the working environment.

They were welcomed by Carel van Heerden, manager of the CAF DNA Sequencer unit at the VV Hall in the Neelsie. Thereafter students were divided in small groups and visited different CAF laboratories. Prof Thabe Matsebatlela, University of Limpopo Biochemistry, accompanied the students and were excited about the opportunity they had. The students said that it was great to see the sophisticated instruments they have heard about in action.
