SU supports thematic research and capacity development through its membership of several academic and research networks across Africa.

With networks such as the Partnership for Africa's Next Generation of Academics (PANGeA) and Partners Enhancing Resilience for People Exposed to Risks (Periperi-U), for example, SU creates opportunities for a new generation of academics to embark on collaborative research and doctoral programmes, especially in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Similarly, as member of the African Union New Partnership for Africa's Development Southern African Network of Water Centres of Excellence (AU/NEPAD SANWATCE), researchers are offered the opportunity to participate in water-related research across Africa.

These are just some of the networks and partnerships. Click on the links below to find out more about our networks.

PANGeA

The Graduate School in SU's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has partnered with the universities of Botswana, Dar es Salaam, Makerere, Nairobi and Malawi to form the Partnership for Africa's Next Generation of Academics (PANGeA). PANGeA supports the next generation of academics and professionals on the continent through world-class doctoral programmes, scholarly communities, academic partnerships and joint research supervision.
